Movie
Originally a skit performed in improv theatre, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure is now a feature-length film. Directed by Stephen Herek, this American science fiction comedy buddy film stars Keanu Reeves as Ted Logan and Alex Winter as Bill Preston. Originally conceived as a one-off improv sketch, Bill and Ted became an instant hit. The pair starred in an eight-episode series for Fox Kids in 1991.
Bill and Ted are high school students who are preparing to go to a military school. Their father wants to send them to Alaska’s military academy. Ted and Bill decide to take out their frustrations on historical figures. They begin collecting historical figures such as Abraham Lincoln, Genghis Khan, Joan of Arc and Socrates. They also decide to go to the local water park to search for Napoleon.
The film was directed by Stephen Herek and the story is by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. The pair first performed as Bill and Ted in improv theater. They were later cast as the lead characters in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.
