In early May, we are going to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first jazz festival in America – the “Blossom Music Jazz Festival.” It has grown to become an internationally recognized celebration. As with all musical events, the Jazz Festival strives to present a unique mixture of music and dance. This year, we are particularly looking forward to celebrating the 20th Anniversary with a “Blossom Music Jazz Festival” at our studios in Studio City, California. We will again be featuring the finest jazz musicians from the world. Our seasoned professional organizers are excited about this year’s concert, which will be our “Symphony on Parade.”

2019 music

A Symphony on Parade is a festive celebration of jazz and music for all ages and skill levels. The musical arrangements are composed of original jazz music arranged for string quartet or a full symphonic orchestra. Visitors are encouraged to participate in the symphony. Participants may include friends, family, or colleagues who share your passion for music. The Blossom Music Festival also includes special guest speakers including Michael Tilson, Wayne Pacelle, Jack White, Walter Becker, and Carol Burnett.

Another unique feature of the Blossom Music Jazz Festival is a “Jazz Family Weekend.” During the weekend, family and friends can experience the joys of jazz by attending our free jazz concerts held each day at the park across the street from our studios. Each day will feature a different artist and a different theme. Saturday will feature jazz legends and performers like pianist-composer-performer Roy Clark, along with local jazz musicians. On Sunday, take your family and friends to the park to celebrate and enjoy the day with a free concert by local jazz musicians.

Our second annual “Jazz Family Weekend” will feature a “Jazz Picnic” concert. This specially planned event will allow participants the opportunity to bring their children and enjoy the beautiful weather while enjoying some wonderful food and free music at our studios. We will feature the best and most well-known jazz musicians of our time like Sidney Poitier, trumpeter-singer-composer instrumentalist instrumentalists Jack Scott, Don Williams, along with jazz legends Jamie Cullum and Merrill Indyll. Plus we’ll provide special guests with handcrafted BBQ chicken sandwiches, corn dogs, and peach cobbler.

Our third jazz festival will be held in early June. Our new music director, Kevin Shea, will lead a team of experts in bringing you the very best in modern jazz. Our musical artists include Jamie Cullum, Don Williams, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and others. Our featured artist for this year will be Mark Wills. Wills will be playing electric guitar and vocalist for a handful of shows throughout the year. His distinctive style and versatility will capture audiences and make him a star.

Our fourth jazz festival will be held during the month of April. This celebration will feature a variety of unique music including Latin music, rockabilly, New Age, as well as a large variety of jazz genres. It will also mark the first annual Jazz Spring Festival. Music lovers and music educators from throughout the Southeast will join forces to celebrate music and bring the best to our community. This is a FREE festival and will offer local talents an opportunity to showcase their talent and skill. You will have the pleasure of hearing some of the best music from around the world.

In the summer of 2019, our fifth jazz festival will take place. This exciting celebration will feature everything from traditional jazz to contemporary jazz. Featured guests include the legendary trumpeter Enrico Risalto; local jazz artists including Amy Winehouse and Mark Wills; and our very own Don Williams.

These are just a few highlights. Keep your ears open for more exciting information about the jazz festival that you’ll enjoy and be proud to be a part of.
